POSITION SUMMARY
Sony Online Entertainment’s Tucson Studio is the developer of Pox Nora, a leading online collectible strategy game. We are growing our staff in order to continue developing Pox Nora, as well as several new online game titles. We offer a casual work environment, comprehensive benefits and a competitive salary.
We’re looking for a skilled Game Programmer to help us build new online games for Sony Online Entertainment’s new Tucson studio. This person will be working on a team that will be designing, developing, writing and maintaining code for this and other assigned projects. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Design, develop, and maintain client and/or server systems primarily using Java and ActionScript
· Help create a robust and reusable codebase around Facebook and other social networking platforms
· Work with other members of the studio to develop high quality and efficient code for new and existing projects
· Responsible in part for debugging/troubleshooting production systems
· Work well under tight deadlines and can handle multiple tasks
QUALIFICATIONS
· Minimum of 3 years game programming experience
· Shipped at least 1 title
· Strong proficiency with Java
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to work under tight deadlines
· Knowledge of database design and SQL
· Proven experience in working with game infrastructures
PREFERENCES
· Experience working with live game systems is a plus (online/persistent games)
· Knowledge of socket servers such as SmartFox Server is a plus
· Knowledge of web technologies such as JSP, AJAX, JS, CSS, & DHTML is a plus
· Knowledge of Flash and ActionScript is a plus
· Knowledge of programming with social networking APIs (Facebook, MySpace) is a plus
EDUCATION
· Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degrees a plus
