Position Title:     Flash /Actionscript Game Programmer

Reports To:         Producer

Location:             Tucson

POSITION SUMMARY

Sony Online Entertainment’s Tucson Studio is the developer of PoxNora, a leading online collectible strategy game. We are growing our staff in order to continue developing PoxNora, as well as several new online game titles. We offer a casual work environment, comprehensive benefits and competitive salary.

SOE Tucson is looking for a qualified Flash programmer to work on our upcoming game. This person will be working on a team that will be designing, developing, writing and maintaining code for this and other assigned projects. ESSENTIAL DUTIES

·         Design and develop Flash games using ActionScript 3.

·         Help design and create a re-usable codebase around Facebook and other social network APIs

·         Work with a team of highly talented programmers, artists and designers.

·         Provide technical leadership and have the ability to anticipate and resolve project roadblocks in Flash product development.

·         Develops technical designs and engineering plans that produce high quality products with efficient and reusable code.

·         Design game mechanics and balance.

·         Works well under pressure and can handle multiple tasks.

·         Rapid prototyping of design mechanics and gameplay systems

QUALIFICATIONS

·         3+ years or more professional experience.

·         3+ years of professional experience in Flash game development

·         Shipped at least 1 title

·         Experience with AJAX, JS, CSS, & DHTML is a plus

·         Experience working with live game systems is a plus (MMO etc)

·         Excellent written and verbal communication

·         Ability to work under tight deadlines

·         Experience in optimizing performance both on the client and server side

·         Expert familiarity with the capabilities and limitations of Flash

·         Ability to work in a team using agile methodology.

·         A solid understanding of a Cairngorm-style MVC programming style.

·         Ability to write quality modular, loosely coupled code.

·         Ability to design and develop modular and efficient server-side game logic a plus.

·         Ability to design and develop database schema and access mechanisms a plus.
