Scope of the Job
|
Responsible for providing services to individuals with autism spectrum disorders and related disabilities. This individual will have a Masters Degree in Speech/Language Pathology and/or Special Education background with at least 5 years experience serving the special needs population. Experience with Applied Behavior Analysis a plus. This individual will have experience providing individual and family assistance in the home, community and school. This individual will provide consultation and technical assistance to families, educators, and service providers as well as be involved in awareness events. Position reports to the Division Administrator, Clinical Director or designee.

Essential Functions
The essential functions are the primary dimensions for performance review.

1.

Provide professional training to teachers and parents in best practices for teaching individuals with autism and related disabilities
|
|
2.
|
Provide technical assistance and consultation services in specific intervention strategies.
|
|
3.
|
Provide behavioral consultation and technical assistance to individuals of all ages with autism and/or related disabilities
|
|
4.
|
Responsible for case coordination, referral services, and home-school collaboration.
|
|

|
Cross train with all other support staff.

Temperament
|
Must be able to perform under stress when confronted with emergency, critical, or unusual situations. Must be capable of dealing with periodic cyclical workload pressures and levels of responsibility. Required to make independent judgments without supervision. Must be able to make generalizations, evaluations, or decisions based on sensory or judgmental criteria. Must have the adaptability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure. Requires the ability to work with people beyond giving and receiving instructions.

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, AND REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Skills
|
· Speech/Language Pathology and/or Special Education background needed.
· Ability to use Microsoft Office to create presentations and create reports.
· Mediation and negotiation skills.
· Ability to present workshops for parents and professionals.
· Valid Florida Driver's License.

Experience
|
Experience may be substituted for education if relevant to requirements on a year for year basis in addition to two (2) years progressive experience.

Education and Certifications
|
Master Degree in an appropriate area of specialization or its equivalent.

Working Conditions
|
· Work in a variety of settings: office, community (schools, homes, residential placements) or clinic environment.
· Will be required to attend certain continuing education events (including annual CARD conference). Must be able to provide own transportation for work purposes.
